Not every skin needs the same peel. Novomed’s smart peeling treatments match the formula, strength and frequency to your skin type and concerns — brightening tone, clearing congestion and refining texture without the harshness people associate with peeling.
Zeinab designs each peeling plan around your skin, not around a set menu:
skin type, tone, barrier health, sensitivity and current products
AHA, BHA or blended formulations selected for your concern and skin tone
starting conservatively and building as your skin demonstrates it tolerates more
where needed, so the peel works evenly and safely
to settle redness and support recovery
the single biggest factor in whether your result holds
to adjust strength and spacing as your skin changes
Every plan begins with a personal skin consultation with Zeinab , so your treatment is matched to your goals.
| Type | Best suited to |
|---|---|
| Lactic acid | Dry, sensitive or first-time skin — hydrating and gentle |
| Mandelic acid | Deeper skin tones and sensitive skin — large molecule, lower irritation risk |
| Glycolic acid | Dullness, texture, fine lines and general resurfacing |
| Salicylic acid (BHA) | Oily, congested and acne-prone skin — works inside the pore |
| Blended formulations | Combination concerns needing more than one action |
A note on deeper skin tones. Medium and dark skin can absolutely be peeled well, but it responds differently — the risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation is real, and it comes from going too strong, too fast, or from skipping sun protection afterwards. This is precisely why we start gentle and build. If you’ve had a bad peel experience before, tell Zeinab ; it usually tells us something useful about what to avoid.
Consultation and, where appropriate, a patch test. Stop retinoids, acids and scrubs for about a week beforehand. Avoid waxing, threading, laser hair removal and sun exposure in the days prior. Tell Zeinab if you're pregnant or breastfeeding, prone to cold sores, taking isotretinoin (Roaccutane), or have any history of keloid scarring.

The skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepped, the peel is applied in layers and monitored closely, then neutralized or removed at the right moment. You'll feel warmth and a tingling or light stinging that builds and then settles — cooling air is used for comfort. The appointment takes around 30–45 minutes.

Mild redness and a tight, slightly dry feeling. Some people leave looking simply glowing; others look a little flushed for a few hours.

Light flaking or peeling, usually around the nose, chin and mouth first. It's typically far subtler than people expect from superficial peels — closer to dry skin than to sheeting. Do not pick or pull at it. Let it shed on its own; picking is the most common cause of marks after a peel.

Broad-spectrum SPF 50 every single day without exception — freshly peeled skin burns and pigments easily, and Dubai's UV index gives it no mercy. Gentle cleanser, generous moisturizer, no exfoliation or retinoids for a week, no sauna, steam room or hot yoga for 48 hours, and no makeup on day one if you can manage it.

Brightness and smoothness show within a week of the first session. Tone evenness and pigmentation improvements build across a course. Most clients do 4–6 sessions, 2–4 weeks apart, then maintenance every 4–8 weeks. Zeinab will advise what your skin needs.

Your treatment is delivered by Zainab Dayoub, our beauty therapist, who selects and tailors the peel to your skin type and goals.
Smart peeling uses professional exfoliating acids — selected specifically for your skin — to loosen and lift dull surface cells and accelerate natural cell turnover. As the old layer sheds, fresher, more even skin is revealed, and repeated sessions gradually improve tone, texture and clarity. What makes it “smart” is that the formula, strength and spacing are matched to your skin rather than applied uniformly.
It can suit a wide range of skin types and tones, including deeper skin, when the formula and strength are chosen appropriately and sun protection is followed. It isn’t suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding for certain acids, on skin with active infection, eczema or open wounds, while taking isotretinoin (Roaccutane) or within six months of stopping it, with an active cold sore in the area, or immediately after waxing or laser. Your consultation will confirm whether it’s right for you.
Superficial peels are well tolerated. Expect warmth and a tingling or light stinging sensation that peaks and then eases — usually described as very manageable. Cooling is used throughout, and the peel is neutralized as soon as the intended endpoint is reached. Tell Zainab if it becomes uncomfortable.
Less dramatically than most people fear. With superficial peels, visible shedding is usually light flaking over days 2–5, mainly around the nose and mouth — some clients barely peel at all and still see results. Heavy sheeting is a feature of medium and deep peels, which are medical treatments and not what we offer here.
Little. Redness typically settles within hours, with light flaking over the following days. Most people work and socialize normally throughout, though you may want to time your first session away from a major event.
It varies by skin condition and goals. A course of 4–6 sessions spaced 2–4 weeks apart is common, followed by maintenance every 4–8 weeks. Zainab will advise at your consultation.
Superficial peels have a strong safety record when performed by a trained professional with appropriate formula selection, careful monitoring and proper neutralization. Expected effects include temporary redness, tightness, dryness and flaking. Less common risks include prolonged redness, irritation, and — particularly in deeper skin tones without diligent sun protection — post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Rarely, cold sore reactivation in those prone to it. Zainab will discuss these with you before you consent.
It can help as part of a wider plan, but melasma is a chronic condition that recurs and can be worsened by treatment that’s too aggressive or by inadequate sun protection. It genuinely needs medical management — prescription topicals, strict photoprotection and careful treatment selection. If your pigmentation is melasma, we’ll refer you to a Novomed dermatologist rather than treat it with peels alone.
Peeling improves post-acne marks — the flat brown or red discolouration left behind — often significantly. Actual textural scarring, where the skin surface is indented, needs treatments that work at depth, such as microneedling or fractional laser. We’ll tell you which one you have at consultation.
HydraFacial cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates with no downtime and immediate glow. Smart peeling works chemically on the surface layers for tone, clarity and congestion over a course. Dermapen works below the surface, remodelling collagen for texture and scarring. They address different things and combine well — Zainab can sequence them across a plan.
Brightness from a single session lasts a few weeks. Results from a full course hold longer, but skin renews continuously and sun exposure, hormones and lifestyle all keep working against you. Maintenance sessions every 4–8 weeks alongside daily SPF and a consistent home routine are what preserve it.
